Tournament Rules

  1. Any USA Adult League that follows standard American Ten Pin rules qualify. Both USBC Certified AND Non-USBC Certified Bowling Leagues qualify.
    1. You MUST be 18 years or older and NOT a USBC Youth Bowler
    2. NO-TAP Leagues do NOT qualify
    3. Your League must bowl at least three games during one League session.
    4. You MUST have a 2014 - 2015 Book Average from ANY League in the Fall/Winter or Summer season listed on USBC's website (http://www.bowl.com) with at least 21 games.
    5. Your League MUST upload your league scores to LeagueSecretary.com by Tuesday at midnight for the previous weeks Tournament. See Rule 13 below for more information. Make sure your league secretary and/or bowling center is aware of this. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure this is done. No refunds will be provided for your scores not being received in time.
    6. VOID in the states of Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana and Washington due to local laws being unclear about the legality of a virtual type tournament
  2. You must be a ROSTER (No Substitutes) member of the League being used for the Tournament.
  3. All Tournaments run for an entire week
    1. Tournaments begin on Monday at 12:00 a.m. (PST) and end the following Sunday at 11:59 p.m. (PST).
    2. Entry Fees are due by Monday at 12:00 p.m. (PST) (noon) for the Tournament week beginning that day. Entries must be paid for prior to physically bowling.
  4. Make-up games, pre bowls, and post bowls will NOT be accepted unless they are physically bowled during the Tournament week.
  5. All Tournaments are three game sets.
    1. All Tournaments are for three games only. If your Bowling League has more than three games, then the first three games will be used towards the Tournament.
  6. Singles Tournaments
    1. If you are on multiple Leagues, you can enter MULTIPLE times (once per League per week).
  7. Handicap
    1. The Handicap will be 90% of the difference between the bowler's average and the highest entering average.
  8. Bonus Pins
    1. Applies to Singles Tournament only.
    2. For every week that you do not win money in the Tournament itself (not including Brackets), you will receive two additional pins, which will be applied to your next Tournament Entry scores. Once you win money in the Tournament itself, your Bonus pins will be reset to zero.
    3. Your scores MUST be received in order to receive this incentive. If you have no scores, you will not receive any Bonus pins. If your entry gets disqualified for any reason, you will not receive the Bonus pins.
  9. Previous Seasons Book Average
    1. If you have a Previous Seasons Book Average from the 2014 - 2015 Fall/Winter or Summer season for the League you are using for entry, then that is what we will use as your Previous Seasons Book Average for the League you are using for Entry.
    2. If you have multiple previous seasons averages from multiple leagues, then we reserve the right to use the highest previous seasons average from the 2014 - 2015 Fall/Winter or Summer season for the league you are using for entry. This is usually done when the multiple averages differ by more than 10 pins from within the same center.
    3. If you DO NOT have a 2014 - 2015 Fall/Winter or Summer Book Average for the League you are using for entry, then we will use the HIGHEST average with at least 21 games from ANY Fall/Winter or Summer season League as your Previous Seasons Book Average for the League you are using for Entry.
    4. If you DO NOT have ANY Previous Seasons Book Average from the 2014 - 2015 Fall/Winter or Summer season then you do not qualify for our Tournament.
  10. Average used for Tournament
    1. We will use your current Bowling League Average for the League you used to enter in determining your Handicap.
    2. If your Previous Seasons Book Average (as defined above) is 10 pins or more than current League Average, then we will use Previous Seasons Book Average (as defined above) in determining your Handicap.
    3. If your League utilizes Previous Seasons Book Average for the first X number of weeks of your League, we reserve the right to rerate your average to the TRUE League Average (Total pins/Total Games).
    4. We reserve the right (and we DO use this right) to rerate your Average based on current bowling ability. This is usually reviewed after a bowler has 4 consective tournament entries that were in cash winning positions.
  11. Singles Tournament Divisions
    1. There will be two Divisions:
      1. 200+ Handicap - Your applicable average based on Rules 9 and 10 for the league you are using for entry must be 200 or above.
      2. 199 and Below Handicap - Your applicable average based on Rules 9 and 10 for the league you are using for entry must be 199 or below.
    2. If you enter an incorrect division, we will withdraw your entry and credit your purchase price back to your VT account.
  12. Doubles Tournaments
    1. If you are on multiple Leagues, you can enter MULTIPLE times (once per League per week).
    2. You may use yourself as a Doubles Partner if you are in multiple Leagues.
    3. You must be entered into the Singles Tournament with ANY league in order to be eligible to enter into the Doubles.
    4. Whichever bowler initiates the Doubles Tournament entry, pays for the entry. It is up to that bowler to collect half the entry fee via 3rd party means, or make arrangements to have the other bowler reciprocate with another Doubles Tournament entry in a future week.
    5. All Doubles Tournament winnings will be split 50/50 between the two bowlers on the team.
  13. Scores must be uploaded to LeagueSecretary.com by Tuesdays at 11:59 p.m. (PST) for the previous weeks Tournament.
    1. All Leagues MUST have their information uploaded to LeagueSecretary.com (See Rule 1.e above).
    2. It is up to you to ensure that your data is uploaded to LeagueSecretary.com by Tuesdays at 11:59 p.m. (PST) for the previous weeks Tournament. No refunds will be offered if scores are not uploaded.
    3. An Email will be sent on Mondays to all bowlers who do not have all the required information from the previous weeks tournament.
    4. If we receive your information after Tuesday at 11:59pm for the previous weeks Tournament, your scores will not be accepted.
    5. It is the bowlers responsibility to ensure we receive all the necessary information uploaded to LeagueSecretary.com on time.
  14. Physical Printout of Scores
    1. If you are the League Secretary of the League or the person uploading the data to LeagueSecretary.com, you must also provide us with a physical printout of each of the games bowled for you and your Team.
  15. In the event of a Tie
    1. In the event of a tie, all positions that are involved in the tie will have their alotted amount totaled and split between all the tied entrants. For example, if 2 entrants occupy 2nd place, then the payout will be the sum of 2nd and 3rd place divided by two, for each entrant involved in the tie.
  16. In order to receive a check payout, you must be willing to provide your Social Security Number
    1. Before you receive a check payout, you must provide your Social Security Number. By law, we must have this in order to issue you a check. Visit our W9 Page for more information.
  17. False Information
    1. Fraud will not be tolerated. Any fraudulent activity will be dealt with accordingly. Any entry fee or prize money will be forfeited. There will be NO REFUNDS.
  18. Once the Tournament starts, you are committed to the Tournament
    1. There are NO REFUNDS once the Tournament starts.
    2. We reserve the right to cancel any Tournament at any time, however, in this event, we will refund all Tournament entries for that specific Tournament.

  19. Other
    1. We reserve the right to refuse entry into the Tournaments.
    2. In addition to Rule 13, we reserve the right to require a physical print-out of your scores. In this case, we will notify you in advance. If you are the League Secretary or the person uploading the data to LeagueSecretary.com, you understand Rule 13 is in effect. This rule constitutes your advanced notice.
    3. We reserve the right to rerate your Average based on current bowling ability. You will be notified of any rerate before the Tournament starts.
